► IN September we said farewell to Queen Elizabeth II.
Tindle Newspapers in Devon, which includes The Mid-Devon Advertiser, The Dawlish Gazette and Teignmouth Post, produced an eight-page tribute to our Monarch who had visited the county on many occasions.
We were able to report on the enduring love story of the Queen and Prince Philip, which all began when the dashing Duke met his future bride, the young Princess Elizabeth, at Dartmouth.
Retired Army Colonel Max Embury, aged 97, was able to recall the Queen’s lovely smile as he was Captain of the Guard during her visit to Newton Abbot in 1962.
► TEIGNMOUTH historian Viv Wilson received her MBE from the Queen at Buckingham Palace and she put it succinctly for the rest of Teignbridge: ‘God bless the memory of our late, lamented Monarch who will never be forgotten around the world.’
► THE chairman of Teignbridge, Cllr Charles Nuttall, read out the proclamation of King Charles III.
► A NEWTON Abbot family was celebrating 100 years of trading in the town. Jacksons Fishmongers in Queen Street and we featured their contribution to the town.

► THE naked ramblers sparked an online debate when they took to walking on Dartmoor. A Facebook user asked: ‘Now I know they were probably not hurting anyone and each to their own but is this an ok activity on the moors?’
There were many responses, some for and some against with one woman saying ‘I would not want to come across this while out hiking on my own.’
While another said ‘They were just taking a hike naked. Kudos to them feeling comfortable walking naked.
► AT the start of the month, we reported that the cost of providing Newton Abbot with a four-screen cinema would cost £600,000 more.
This was one of the proposals under the multi-million pound Future High Street Funding plans by Teignbridge Council. This was later agreed by councillors in November.
► SEWAGE discharge warnings were issued along our coastline, with Dawlish, Teignmouth and Holcombe affected.
It was revealed that 31 per cent of SWW’s monitors measuring and tracking sewage discharges were faulty. SWW said they faced the toughest targets on pollution ever with big plans to tackle this in the pipeline.
