Kingsteignton is to get a new skate and BMX park at long last.

A six-year search for a suitable location has been ended by the town council, which has agreed the facility can be built in Clifford Park.

Work on foundations could start soon and the project – costed at £45,000 – could be finished next spring.

PCSO Vanessa Pike, who has battled hard for a site for such a facility, said this week: 'It's taken me more than two years to drive this and it feels amazing. I'm so chuffed.

'The boys will have somewhere safe off the streets where they can do their tricks.'

Adam Green, a young member of Kingsteignton Riders' Union, said: 'Thank God it's happening and it's all down to Vanessa.'
