MARGARET Thatcher never made an official visit to Teignbridge during her run of three consecutive premierships.

But she did hit the campaign trail in Newton Abbot and Bovey Tracey as part of her successful bid for a third term in office in 1987.

As plain Conservative Party leader, the Iron Lady made a whistlestop tour of the two towns on May 27.<
