Volunteers from Teignmouth Royal National Lifeboat Institute (RNLI) were involved in the rescue of a kayaker on Tuesday (July 15) afternoon.
Solent Coastguard tasked Teignmouth RNLI at 13.26 to respond to reports of a kayaker in difficulty of Babbacombe beach.
Four volunteer crew members quickly launched on board Teignmouth RNLI’s Atlantic 85 lifeboat Claude and Kath.
Despite a stiff south-westerly offshore breeze, the crew were quickly on-scene and located the lone kayaker more than half a mile from the shore.
The volunteer lifesavers from Teignmouth RNLI were able to recover the casualty and return them to Babbacombe pier where a further assessment was taken and no additional action was required.
The crew then returned to station where the volunteer shore crew were waiting to assist in the recovery and refuelling of the lifeboat.
