A ROAD in Bovey Tracey is closed this afternoon after Storm Christophe brought down a large tree. High winds and driving rain caused a 50ft conifer to fall across Brimley Road just after 2pm. The tree fell into an opposite garden, narrowly missing the property, but taking down overhead cables leaving some homes without power. Staff from Western Power are presently at the scene where they will remove the tree and make the area safe. Police are ensuring the public remains at a safe distance. Earlier today, another tree blew down in nearby Lowerdown. That has now been removed and the road is open.
