ROAD closures through Christow are planned to take place today and tomorrow, as the National Grid begins work on fixing the Teign Valley's power supply.

The works will take place on Village Road, affecting the 360 bus route, which will only be able to get to Church Lane before turning around and leaving Christow.

The works come after complaints throughout the Valley of frequent power outages over the weekend. One resident complained of four power cuts in Smithay Meadows yesterday evening, making cooking dinner 'a bit like being on a game show'.

Another called the power situation like 'a lottery', having to resort to cooking on a camping stove for their Sunday dinner guests.

The issue is said to be a broken cable that cannot be found. Although the work is planned for two days, Western Power hopes to finish the work today if they can find the problem swiftly.
