A SNEAKY snake has reportedly been spotted basking in the sun on a Newton Abbot street.

A photo of what appears to be a Corn snake was spotted by a passer-by this morning on Windsor close. Corn snakes do not pose any danger to people and are not venomous.

The owner of the exotic animal has yet to be identified.

Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed this morning that they have received no complaints or call outs for the slippery suspect.

Someone who approached the snake claimed it had since slithered into a nearby drain.

It is hoped that the elusive serpent will be tempted out of the drain to sunbath as the temperature increases.
