THE disappearance of the WH Smith name from British high streets is afoot as applications to change the signage at Teignbridge’s two stores are submitted to planners.
The new owner of the 233-year-old chain, Modella Capital, decided a rebrand is in order.
As such, high-streets up and down the country, including Newton Abbot and Teignmouth, will soon be saying goodbye to WH Smith and hello to TGJones.
This comes as applications to change the exterior signage at both Teignbridge stores have been submitted to Teignbridge District Council (TDC).
25/00907/ADV is seeking permission for one non-illuminated fascia sign and one non-illuminated projecting sign at the Newton Abbot store.
25/00952/ADV is seeking the same, but for the Teignmouth store on Regent Street.
