TONY ELLIOTT, of Newcross Park, Kingsteignton, writes:

Having worked in many countries on this planet, I

am still very sceptical regarding the question of climate

change. After the recent spell of very cold weather, I say

bring on the warmer days as soon as possible.

It is my opinion that it is not the climate that is the

greatest danger to this world, it is the over population

that is now with us in just about every country.

How are the so-called developed nations able to

support the third world countries when now most are

billions in debt? Where would all this money come from?

Please tell me, somebody, as charity must begin at home.

Before the days of rapid communications the likes of

drought, famine and diseases in such countries as Africa

controlled much of the population growth. We can no

longer afford to support these countries and should

withdraw all future financial aid as the cash is now no

longer available.

Closer to home, the government should discourage

young girls from breeding babies to obtain

accommodation and all the associated benefits by totally

stopping these rewards. It should be abortion, or their

responsibility to support the child in a way that a normal

married couple would do. This would save the authorities

millions and free up the housing market for the truly

needy families.

Many will look upon my views as being very harsh,

but we are living through very tough times financially. Is it

not the time to call a halt to this 'dream world' of a debt

ridden and over populated country of ours? To all the do-

gooders I say 'dream on', or face up to the truth of these

matters!
