Gatehouse Primary school, dawlish, is hosting a singing workshop for the Welsh National opera tomorrow from 3pm to 5pm.

This will be the second time the school has welcomed the opera – last year the workshop was a wonderful success with singers of all capabilities putting together a short choral piece.

This year the workshop is run by Sharon Richards and the session will focus on some of Mozart's famous opera choruses.

The charge is £5 for adults (£3 for those on benefit) and £2 for under l8s. Places are available for all abilities – contact Celia Hadow on 01626 215602 to book a place.

At 7.30pm tomorrow Dawlish Leisure Centre is the venue for the orchestra of the Welsh National Opera – pictured left – which will perform popular music by Bernstein, Erik Satie and Poulenc.

They will be joined by some of Britain's finest soloists for a semi-staged performance of Puccini's Il Tabarro (The Cloak).

This rarely-performed one-act opera contains some classic and truly tear-jerking melodies and beautiful arias.

The previous two visits by the WNO have been a sell-out and tickets at £16, £14 and £12 for the evening are available from the leisure centre (01626 215632).
