THERE was disruption to trains between Newton Abbot and Paignton today (Sunday) as sheep got onto the line.

At one point an observer described the scene as ‘carnage’ and National Rail was warning people via Twitter: ‘Trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised.’

But by 2.30 Great Western Railway Tweeted ‘Following animals on the railway between Newton Abbot and Paignton all lines are now open.’

However there may be disruption until 3.30pm.
