Shoppers in Newton Abbot on Wednesday were lucky to avoid injury when a bus shelter came crashing to the ground after what might have been no more than a nudge.
Transport firm Countrybus has expressed shock that the structure was damaged so easily.
The incident happened shortly before 2pm outside the market office, Sherborne Road. The town was playing host to the mid-week market and the annual cheese and onion fair.
The Countrybus 182 service was pulling into the stop when, it appears, the vehicle may have clipped the metal and perspex structure bolted to the office wall.
Despite plenty of people waiting at nearby stops, nobody was under the canopy when it came down.
