Chudleigh will be alive with floats, music and colourful costumes again next year, thanks to new members joining the carnival committee. Chudleigh Carnival was cancelled this year, but the annual meeting saw two new members join. More have come forward to join sister group the Friends Of Chudleigh Carnival. 'We are dead chuffed that we will be able to arrange a carnival in the town next year,' said Alan Holman, secretary of Chudleigh Carnival Committee. 'Next year is the 200th year since the Great Fire of Chudleigh and lots has been organised for that and it will also be the 75th carnival so it will be a double event. 'Last year only one person came to our annual meeting and thought about joining: this year we had 12 to 15 people.' The carnival still needs more help. 'We really need more men to help build the float and also need more members generally,' said Mr Holman.
