TEN-man Dawlish Town came within seconds of securing their place in the last 16 of the FA Vase but will now have to travel to south Derbyshire to replay their fourth round tie against Gresley.
Moatmen substitute Stefan Marshall's lasp-gasp equaliser – which turned out to be the last of eight goals scored – forced extra-time at rain-lashed Sandy Lane, before referee Andy Newell decided to call a halt to the thrilling match ten minutes prematurely with the ball holding up on the waterlogged surface.
It was thought by many in the bumper crowd of 222 that Dawlish would get a second bite of the cherry at home as a result of the abandonment but FA rules stipulate that, as 90 minutes had already been played, the 4-4 result will effectively stand.FULL REPORT AND OTHER SPORT STORIES IN OUR ONLINE EDITION
