DREAMS of saving one of the last remaining green spaces in Kingsteignton from development have been dashed.Town councillors have been forced to scrap their vision for a community resource centre in the face of competition from social housing providers.However, councillors are hoping they may be able to salvage some of their plans for the site by talking to potential developers.They agreed to instigate talks in the hope of obtaining some community benefit from the land, either by providing allotments or open space.The decision not to submit a tender for the Devon County Council-owned site at Greenhill Way – despite the authority offering a 36.5 per cent discount to the town council on any bid it made – marks the end of almost two years of work.
