A soldier from Chudleigh has been involved with the production of the world famous Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo this summer.
Private Iain Thomson, 22, is a member of A Company of the 3rd Battalion The Rifles (3 Rifles) and has spent much of July and all of August as part of the backstage arena party at the world famous military spectacle, which this year celebrates its diamond jubilee.
Iain has been in the Army for 18 months and normally works as the military clerk for the Battalion's A Company.
He also was instrumental in looking after the 'rear party' – the troops left in the UK due to age, injury or welfare circumstances, while his fellow members of 3 Rifles completed a tough seven-month tour in the Sangin district of Helmand Province in Afghanistan earlier in the year.
