A team from the Newton Abbot Somerfield store has successfully defended its title in the town's annual pancake race.
The event, organised by Wolborough C of E Primary School, and this year staged in wet conditions in Market Walk, drew a half-term crowd of cheering onlookers who did their best to spur on the 12 teams.
The Somerfield United team, under the guidance of coach Heather Ellis, retained the adult championship it won last year, and with it the glittering prize in the shape of an engraved frying pan.
In the junior section, four teams from Wolborough Primary School competed for the top spot, the Exe team finally taking the honours and the shield after winning through in the heats. The events were presided over by Newton Abbot mayor, Cllr Daphne Watts.
