A scout leader writes:
I have recently just been told about the outcome of a recent investigation into our previous District Commissioner Alan Partridge.
I must say that I am embarrassed by the whole situation and do not know how the people involved in running the district can sleep at nights.
Since I have known Alan he has been a man of complete integrity and someone who will always stand up for what he believes is right.
He has done amazing things for this district and he has always been my pleasure to work with.
Although it now appears, that the powers that be, have now treated this enthusiastic volunteer (who, like all of us, does not get paid for this role) has been kicked out just because they did not deem him to be an effective manager. Despite what he has managed to do.
I know I am not the only leader who feels this way. I have been in contact with a lot of leaders in the district who have all said they are now contemplating whether they want to continue volunteering for such an organisation.
If you are able to give so many kids so much fun and then get booted out like this then something fundamentally must be wrong.
I believe the leaders who sit in meeting rooms trying to run this district have their own agendas. These people are not fit to manage.
I would ask that Teignbridge look at appointing a new Executive team who can support the new DC or that leaders should show their allegiance by either complaining to the Scout Association or by voting with their feet.
If something does not change soon rest assured the chairman will have my resignation and others on his desk very quickly.MORE LETTERS IN OUR DIGITAL EDITION
