A REMEMBRANCE tree is now up in Teignmouth and ready for messages and memories to be put on it.

For the last six years, the special illuminated tree has been put up in Somerset Place, outside the Methodist Church.

It is free for anyone to post a message of love, thanks or in memory of a loved one.

Photos and baubles can also be added.

Jo Task, of the Healthy Pet Shop, said: ‘Each year we put the tree up more and more people join in by placing their messages upon it or special baubles.

‘It is wonderful and it brings a real sense of community to the town.

‘It’s amazing what can be done when everyone comes together.

‘I hope everyone visits the tree and please feel free to attach a message or bauble.

‘We think you will all agree it is beautiful and a good way to share and spread the love in Teignmouth this Christmas.

‘We hope this tree will continue to grow in popularity and more messages will be placed upon it this year.’

Jo also thanked all the town’s traders and customers for their ‘kind’ donations of time and decorations and the Methodist Church for providing the power.

The tree itself was provided by Teignmouth Town Council.

Messages need to be in some kind of waterproof covering and tied securely to the tree.
