Eight speeding motorists travelling through Heathfield were stopped by police who were taking part in a speed watch initiative during the morning rush hour on Thursday. The officers were targeting the Old Newton Road. 'Speeding is one of our community priorities for the whole of the Bovey Tracey and Moretonhampstead police team' said Sgt Ian Stevens. 'We will be carrying out further speed checks in the area in the coming months.'
