A community nurse from Kingsteignton claims that shoddy council grass-cutting is spoiling the historic heart of the town.

Anne Clarson, of Church Street, says that she and neighbours have to sweep up regularly after the churchyard grass has been cut. And it is not only grass cuttings sprayed onto the road but also dog faeces.

St Michael's churchyard is at a higher level than the road and when the grass is strimmed it drops down, making it, according to Mrs Clarson, slippery underfoot for schoolchildren going to and from the primary school and other pedestrians.

She said: 'It is hazardous. You can smell the dog faeces, it's slippy for elderly and infirm and the little children from St Michael's.

'If your car is underneath you will have a green car as well.'

Mrs Clarson said that when she complained to the council, she was assured it would not happen again. When it did, she claimed the officer was sarcastic.
