Local author Mark Norman will be reading from his book Black Dog Folklore and signing copies at the Friends of Buckfastleigh Library event on Friday, October 2.

A spokesman for the Friends said: ‘This is our second author event this autumn and again we will have the cafe layout which has proved so successful in all our author talks.

‘Drinks and nibbles will be included in the ticket price and profits will go towards the provision of more IT facilities in a library where the demand for computers frequently outstrips supply.’

In September the Friends teamed up with some of the archive and local history team from the Valiant Soldier for an author talk by historian David Parker on his latest book Edwardian Devon.

The spokesman added: ‘That evening started with a talk by local historian Sandra Coleman which gave a fascinating insight into Buckfastleigh at this time.

‘David then gave a lively talk on Devon in an era when tumultuous changes were affecting the experiences of people from all social classes in the period leading up to the first world war.

‘It was obviously appreciated as he sold all the copies of his book at a signing session afterwards.’

Tonight’s spooky talk by Mark Norman starts at 7.30pm. Tickets are available from Buckfastleigh Library or on the door.
