TWO road accidents in as many hours made life difficult for commuters using the A380 between Newton Abbot and Exeter on Tuesday.
So-called Storm Gareth didn’t help matters as the wind and rain lashed Devon and the rest of the UK.
One person was slightly injured in a five-vehicle shunt on the Exeter-bound carriageway at the top of Telegraph Hill at 7.20am.
The casualty did not need hospital treatment.
The road was reported clear two hours later, but in the interim queues of traffic extended as far back as Kingsteignton.
Motorists anxious to dodge the worst of the delays found themselves in similar no-go mode as the alternative route through Chudleigh was soon choc-a-bloc.
Three cars were damaged in a shunt on the same road, but on the Newton Abbot-bound carriageway near the start of the Penn Inn flyover.
The bump happened just after 8.30am. No one was hurt. An ambulance attended the scene, but was not needed.
