THE Teignbridge area is in for a right royal knees up next week when there are numerous street parties and special events to celebrate the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton.
One of the biggest events is in Kingskerswell where the village Scouts are holding a day of fun and activities in Kingskerswell Meadows from 10am-4pm. To ensure those attending will not miss the wedding there will be a big screen to watch the ceremony unfold.
Various family fun events during the day include a Scouts parade, a barbecue, children's activities and much more, and it does not stop there. From 5pm there is an evening party, Georgestock, to celebrate everything English.
Across at Dawlish, Sheila Thomas is organising a Royal Wedding Celebration Party at her home The Barn House, 3 King Street.
Children and families are invited with the boys dressed as kings and princes and the girls as princesses.
The mayor, Cllr Helen Humphries, is dropping in at a Street Party in Elm Grove Close on Friday afternoon, which is expected to attract more than 100 people.
They will be raising a glass to toast Prince William and Catherine Middleton when residents get together at the junction of Salisbury Terrace and Gladstone Terrace, Teignmouth, at 2pm on Friday.
It should be a fun day at Haldon Racecourse on Tuesday, when anyone arriving for the Exeter race meeting dressed as a prince or princess is being allowed free entry.

HALDON – Exeter National Hunt meeting first race 2.10pm. Racegoers are invited to join in the royal celebrations by getting out the old wedding dresses, velvet trousers, ruffled shirts, crowns and tiara, to become Princes and Princesses for the day. It is a fun day and it is free entry for anyone who goes along dressed as Princes and Princesses.
THURSDAY APRIL 28
EXMINSTER Community Primary School – 1pm. A school wedding. 2pm. Street Party in the school grounds.
HEATHFIELD – St Catherine's Primary School. The children are dressing in red, white and blue and holding a street party in the afternoon and inviting grandparents along to share their memories of street parties.
KINGSTEIGNTON – St Michael's Primary School. The children are holding a street party in the afternoon and will wear red, white and blue and inviting grandparents along to share their experiences of street parties.
FRIDAY APRIL 29
ASHBURTON – From 2pm. Street Party in Emmetts Park.
BOVEY TRACEY – Street Party in Moor Lane.
BUCKFASTLEIGH – Street Party in Fore Street.
CHRISTOW – Street Party on road past Weir Park Farm.
DAWLISH – 2pm A Royal Wedding Celebration Party organised by Sheila Thomas, at The Barn House, 3 King Street, for the children of King Street, Queen Street, Princess Street and Regent Street. The boys will be dressing as kings and princes and the girls as princesses, with mums and dads in their best bib and tucker while nans are making cakes and jellies and a royal wedding cake made of digestive biscuits.
DAWLISH – Residents of Elm Grove Close holding a street party for more than 100 people. Mayor of Dawlish Cllr Helen Humphries is visiting at 3pm.
DAWLISH – Traditional street party in the grounds of Sefton Hall Nursing and Residential Home, Plantation Terrace, for residents and their families, with entertainment beginning 2.30pm.

IDEFORD – From 10am. Royal Wedding celebration on the Millennium Green, including big screen coverage of the wedding, a barbecue and Easter egg hunts.

KINGSTEIGNTON Royal British Legion – The Royal wedding will be shown in the lounge on the large screen, and that will be followed by a race night and buffet, open to all.
KINGSTEIGNTON – Street parties in Little Hayes, Fore Street and St Michael's Road.
NEWTON ABBOT – Street party in Seymour Road.
SHALDON – Street Party in Laurel Lane.
TEIGNMOUTH – 2.30pm-4.30pm. Cream tea with wedding cake and sparkling wine, in St Michael's Church, on the sea front. The event is open to all, with hopefully those attending dressed in red, white and blue. It will be held outside if fine and in the church if wet.
TEIGNMOUTH – Street parties in Paradise Road, Gloucester Road and Howard Close.
TEIGNMOUTH – 2pm Residents of Salisbury Terrace, Gladstone Terrace and Speranza Grover, invited to meet at the junction of Salisbury and Gladstone Terraces with their friends to drink a toast to the Royal couple. Just turn up with a drink in your hand and mingle with your neighbours until the Loyal Toast is proposed.
SATURDAY APRIL 30
ASHBURTON – 7.30pm. The portreeve, William Shapley, presents A Royal Occasion – a charity concert featuring Love Songs to celebrate the Royal wedding – featuring Janet Distin and friends, accompanied by Rob Young on piano, in St Lawrence Chapel 7.30pm.
NEWTON ABBOT Royal British Legion – 7.30pm. Wedding celebrations evening organised by the women's section and club. Entertainment by the band Grumpy Old Gits.
SUNDAY MAY 1
KINGSTEIGNTON Royal British Legion – 7.30pm. Royal quiz night in the lounge to raise funds for the club. Groups of two or more members and bona fide guests.
