The Grand Hotel, Torquay, was the chosen venue for the Year 11 Newton Abbot College prom this year.

'We had a group of boys who arrived on space hoppers, which was hysterical,' said Jo Slade, press officer at the college.

'They arrived in classic and sports cars, an ambulance, plus we had a coastguard 4 X 4 with the blue lights flashing.

'The students behaved brilliantly throughout the evening.'

Awards were given out to many students: Joker of the Year Tom Jolley; Friend of the Year Abi Johnson; Rebel of the Year Harry Alford; Best dressed of the Year Jaq North; Person most likely to become Prime Minister Dan Napper; To be a Millionaire Olly Taylor; To be Famous Nivana Bartlett; To be a Pop Star Cydney Brown; To be a Newton Abbot College teacher Nicola Bond; Prom King Alex Marsden; Prom Queen Tamsyn Pearce; Student Support Award for Perseverance and Endeavour Laura Richards.
