Patients and staff at Ashburton Hospital have benefited from a generous donation from the hospital's League of Friends.
The stoic supporters have bought new pieces of equipment worth almost £6,500.
The weighing hoist will allow staff to check patients' weight while transferring from the bath or bed and the new Dynamap will allow them to check both blood pressure and blood oxygen levels quickly and painlessly.
A fully-padded chair to aid patient comfort was also supplied.
'We simply couldn't work in the way we do without the support of the League of Friends,' said sister Cherry Fisher.
'If it wasn't for their unflagging support I don't know what we would do, particularly now they are choosing to supply equipment that a few years ago would have naturally been within the remit of the NHS.
'This was no ordinary request on our part and the league has responded magnificently.'
