COMMUNITIES in Teignbridge and the rest of Devon who have lost out in the superfast fibre broadband share-out are being sought by BT.

They want to hear from those who are still struggling to hitch a ride on the ever-speeding information highway.

Nearly half-a-million households in the county are now able to ‘get fibre’ – but pockets of the excluded remain in the wilderness.

Paul Coles, BT’s Regional Partnerships Director for the South West, said: ‘We know there is still work to do in some areas – and that there are communities which don’t yet have faster fibre broadband and are not currently included in any roll-out plans for this exciting technology.’

He revealed the company’s initiative Community Fibre Partnership (CFP) had been specially drawn up to help communities not yet involved in rollout plans.

A grant of £20,000 was available to any Ofsted-registered schools which might benefit benefit from the hitch-up.

He said CFPs were proving popular in Devon with some partnerships already in progress.

‘It takes just a few minutes but could be the start of an exciting journey to getting fibre broadband,’ said Mr Coles.
