Reduce, re-use, recycle... no single use plastic...shop local.

We’ve all heard the buzz words before. But the farmers and stallholders at Teignmouth Farmers’ Market are leading from the front of this, and your attendance and custom support this sustainability in an engaging way.

By bringing your own bags, choosing foods that have been locally grown, baked, raised, preserved, brewed and made you are doing this.

None of the farmers regularly hand out plastic bags with their produce.

Organic vegetables from Martyn at Shillingford are gloriously naked, ready for your own reusable bags.

Lisa at Pat-a-Cake bakery and Bread of Devon have paper wrappings for their cakes and breads, and Lori at Shute Fruit pays you to bring back your preserve jars for a deposit.

Make the most of seasonal foods is another mantra of the green minded.

Look to Brian at Stanbury Game or Linda at Red Earth Kitchen as they prepare the best of the area’s game pies and fill their pastries with vibrantly fresh ingredients.

Take home some of Anna’s Veggie Deli salads brimful of tasty seasonal vegetables.

Don’t forget our award winning cheese makers, both cow and goat, Curworthy and Norsworthy, who occasionally add items to their stalls.

Last month Marilyn had duck eggs and quail eggs whilst Richard at Curworthy has homemade clotted cream and yogurt alongside their cheeses.

New to the market but not new to Teignmouth as Ben’s farm is just across the river, are Black Rabbit’s cider and Janey’s Easterhill Nursery with willow grown at Starcross. Look out for Aaron’s of Surf and Turf with Scotch eggs from Kingsteignton.

Local, sustainable, and fresh from the farm.

What more could you ask for?

The Teignmouth Farmers’ market takes place tomorrow, Saturday, 26 February in the town centre Triangle between 10 am and 2 pm.
