YOU would have done well to miss it, but in case you have not seen, several of Newton Abbot's subways have been transformed!

The 'Tunnels of Love' project has brought a much needed makeover to an area otherwise bereft of pleasantry; subways are typically drab, but not longer, for the project was brought vibrant colour to several of the town's underpasses.

The four underpasses at Penn Inn Roundabout, for instance, have each been designated a theme around one of four elements: fire, which is picture below, water, earth and air.

As of today, Sunday, July 9, the fire and water tunnels have been completed, with earth and air to follow shortly; the tunnels sport appropriately coloured graffiti on one side and an assortment of community inspired artwork on the other.

'Tunnels of Love' is the latest project by Newton Abbot Community Interest Company (CIC).

A spokesman for Newton Abbot CIC said: 'We've been overwhelmed by the support we've received for the Project.

'A huge thank you to Newton Abbot Town Council for their help with the massive task of installing the artwork.'
