ASHBURTON’S ancient links with Dartmoor are being celebrated with tantalising treks around the town and in the national park next weekend.
On Saturday, September 17, a trio of entertainers (pictured above) will lead willing strollers from the town all the way to Ringleshutes Mine on Holne Moor as part of a Tinners’ Tales and Trails adventure starting at 11am and ending at about 3pm.
Leading the way will be storyteller Sara Hurley joined by musician Hugh Nankivell and showman Tony Liddington.
Their celebratory ramble will feature stories of the moor, activities, games and music to beguile the six-mile ‘comfortable walking’ trek.
The following day, younger perambulators are being invited to take part in Town Tales and Trails which is confined to different parts of the town, and features Sara and Tony.
The journey starts in St Lawrence Lane at 11am and finishes at the same location an hour later.
Anyone interested in the moorland romp should contact Inga Page on 07914 184220. Gloria Partridge on 07739 161809 is the contact for the shorter town trip 24 hours later.
