A teenager from Newton Abbot has admitted taking part in an incident which ended with a man being stabbed in the street.

Jessica Oldbury, aged 19, of Windsor Avenue admitted affray when she appeared at Exeter Crown Court. A more serious charge of wounding was dropped.

Michael Eagles, aged 19, of Lower Warberry Road, Torquay, has admitted wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The stabbing took place in Castle Lane, Torquay, on November 15, 2017 after a confrontation at a property nearby.

Mr Jeffrey Segan, defending, said Oldbury’s involvement was limited to banging on the victim’s door in the run-up to the incident. He said she had no idea Eagles was armed with a knife.

Judge Geoffrey Mercer, QC, adjourned the case for sentence on February 2. He granted Oldbury bail. Eagles was remanded in custody after entering his plea at an earlier hearing.
