Dog and duck herding and parkour on a bike are just two of the activities at one of Devon’s most vibrant village shows.
Located in the heart of the Teign valley, Dunsford Summer Show, which takes place on Saturday (July 5), combines quintessential village show fare with bold colour and sound.
In the main ring, the acrobatic Andrei Burton will be performing Parkour on a bike. But the show also remains true to its countryside roots with Come Bye’s charming dog and duck herding act and a display from the beautiful Dartmoor Hill Ponies.
The colour of carnival runs throughout the show with samba band Street Heat providing an upbeat soundtrack and acts from the magical Higher Beings Circus with their stilt-walkers and workshops for all ages.
Visitors of all ages and interests will find something of interest with children’s games, a maypole, classic car show, a produce show and dog show all squeezed in between midday and 5pm.
There’s also a chance for some retail therapy with over 40 stalls selling local crafts, produce, organic clothing, skin care, sweets, art and one-off handmade woodware items.
Refreshments are available from the barbeque, food stalls and bar serving everything from the finest cakes to refreshing soft drinks, beer and Pimm’s.
Dunsford Show is run by the Dunsford Community Academy Parent, Teacher and Friends Association (PFTA) and raises funds for the local school.
It takes place from 12noon until 5pm on Saturday July 5. The showground is nestled in the heart of the Teign valley in fields close to Dunsford just off the B3212. The postcode of the ground is EX6 7ED.
Tickets for entry can be bought on the gate and cost £5 for adults and £2 for children aged between 5 and 16. Under 5s are free. Families can buy a group ticket for two adults and up to three children for £12.
