FANCY walking, running or even dancing around the Teignmouth seafront area, and being showered with two tonnes of powder paint?

Then a new spring fundraising event for the Rowcroft Hospice is just the job.

The 5k Colour Rush is coming to the resort on May 7, and Rowcroft events manager Daniel Robson, explained: ‘We are delighted to announce that the shores of Teignmouth will soon be turning rainbow-coloured as we take The Colour Rush on tour for the first time ever.

‘Teignmouth is a brand new venue, to go alongside the established Paignton event in September.’

The Paignton Colour Rush has been a sell-out in previous years and the hospice hopes the Teignmouth event will enable even more people to take part in the fun.

All participants are also asked to raise as much sponsorship as possible for Rowcroft.

By doing so they’ll be helping to make every day the best day possible for thousands of people living with life-limiting illnesses across south Devon.

Daniel added: ‘A lot of people associate Rowcroft’s services with Torbay, as our main premises are based there. However, the majority of our care is actually provided in people’s homes across south Devon, including Teignmouth, Dawlish and Newton Abbot.

‘It’s great to be able to run an event closer to our supporters’ and patient’s homes in the Teignbridge area.’

Stephen Feasby, from Newton Abbot, who is currently an outpatient at Rowcroft Hospice, said: ‘I cannot express or put into words what Rowcroft means to me. I was introduced to the outpatient services at a time when my anxiety was going through the roof and it has become my saviour.

‘I’m excited to hear that the hospice will be running an event in Teignmouth in May, especially something as bright and colourful as The Colour Rush.’

Registration opens on Monday, February 29, and there will be regular updates on Facebook.
