The sudden closure of a live music venue in Teignmouth has shocked customers and local musicians.

Rock Bottom, a bar well-known for its food and live music events, closed its doors with immediate effect on May 2.

The owners cited ‘ongoing challenges including noise complaints, property damage, rising costs of goods and labour and the seasonality of the town’.

Legal notices at the door of the venue indicated that the landlord had taken possession of the premises as part of legal proceedings against the business owner Paul Matthews.

Rock Bottom, which opened in 2021, took on the Regent Street premises following the closure of Patrick Fogarty’s Bronx Bar & Cue.
