A LOCAL sausage company has found a new way to forge links – with the community.
Charles Baughan, managing director of Newton Abbot’s Westaways visited Bovey Tracey Over 60s’ Club and gave a talk on the humble banger.
Club chairman Helen Cowell said: ‘We learned about the entire sausage-making process, from pig to table.’
After the talk, club members were each given a pack of the local delicacy to take home and sample.
Helen said: ‘Charles was the latest of our regular guest presenters.
‘Future speakers will talk about Princetown and its prison, the Met Office, and we are looking forward to Pirate Pete from Bristol who will be talking about slavery – and piracy of course.’
The Bovey Tracey Over 60s’ Club meets every Wednesday from 2pm to 4pm at the Wickham Hall. Helen said: ‘As well as hearing from regular speakers we also hold monthly outings and activities.
‘We are a friendly club and always welcome new members. Just turn up and join in.’
