A LOOK behind the curtain at the real goings on of the hotel trade in ‘More Sauce Madam? The Adventures of a Hotel Manager’.
Author Geoffrey Paris spent more than 40 years in the catering and hotel business and there is next to nothing that he was not seen.
Everything from drunken porters and blunderingly inept waiters to con-artist customers and even the occasional millionaire, Geoffrey’s book pulls no punches and lays bare what really goes on behind the scenes of a hotel.
The book is based on Geoffrey’s experience in the catering and hotel business, starting from cadet camp at Wellington College, through to catering college which saw Geoffrey work twice in Germany and once in Switzerland, before documenting his foray into management which began at the Riviera Hotel in Newquay.
Other hotels that Geoffrey has worked over the years included the: Belgrave Hotel, Palm Court Hotel, Roselands Hotel and the Quayside Hotel as well as a whole host of others
Geoffrey works full-time as a receptionist at the Berry Head Hotel in Brixham and spends his spare time teaching ceramics in Chelston, Torquay.
