The last action of the season at Newton Abbot Squash Club was the annual club championships, which, as always, attracted a large number of entries.
The tournament was run over two weeks and culminated in a packed finals night featuring the climax of eight events.
On the show court, the junior ladies started the evening's programme as Lauren Theaker successfully defended her title against Katie Scott, who looks favourite to claim the crown next year as Theaker will be too old to compete in the this category.
The junior men's final was the second event of the evening and, for the first time in several years, the outcome was not a foregone conclusion as this time two young men of equal ability were up against each other.
Ed Lloyd, perhaps the slight favourite, and Harry Millyard, both started nervously in their first major club final, but a couple spells of scoring saw Lloyd take the opening game 9-3.
The standard moved up a gear in the second, which Millyard took 10-8 to draw level. This seemed to prove a turning point as Millyard then took the next two games 9-3 9-4 to take the title 3-1.
Claire Simmonds produced some sparkling squash in the defence of her ladies' crown, with Anne Scott trying to regain the trophy she won two years ago.
Simmonds proved too strong in a competitive match, taking it 3-1.
The men's championship had thrown up a clear favourite as the number one seed, Lee Curtis, had been forced to withdraw due to an ongoing injury.
This left the field open for Oliver Morrall to claim the title for the first time.
After conquering Nigel Bell 9-0 9-7 9-0 in the semi-final, Morrall was pitted against fellow first-teamer Kevin Appleby.
Morrall took the first two games 9-1 9-1 before Appleby staged a recovery with a hard fought third, but despite reaching game point and serving to take the match further, Morrall finally took it 10-8 to put his name on the trophy.
The plate finals were no less entertaining with both the junior events showing the depth within the club.
Kayleigh Peters beat Jemma Gough 3-2 in a match which neither girl deserved to lose.
The Scott brothers again contested the junior men's plate, this year the title going to older brother Dan, beating Cameron 3-1.
Dawn Widecombe took the ladies' plate with a 3-1 win over Rose Wood, while Steve Lewis was the men's plate champion for the third year in succession, beating Brian Avery 3-0.
