‘DIDN’T we have a ball’ was the opinion of the president of this year’s annual Newton Abbot Charity Town Ball, Keith Stokes-Smith.

Held at the Passage House Hotel on Saturday the event also raised £1,000 for The Devon Air Ambulance Trust.

‘Sadly, due to Covid, we did not hold the event in 2020 or 2021 so it was so pleasing to be back again,’ said Keith.

‘We were so grateful to our sponsors, Bar 7 and Manorial Heritage Ltd as well as those who donated items to the auction and raffle including Davie Construction, committee members, Babbacombe Theatre, Buckfast Butterfly Farm, Dartmouth Steam Railway, Encon Insulation and South Devon Railway.

‘Our thanks also to all our guests and the entertainment ‘Go tell Alice’ as well as The Passage House Hotel.

‘The aim of the event is to give guests an affordable opportunity to really dress up for a lovely evening out with friends while raising funds for a local chosen charity,’ said event chair Sue Davie, ‘something we have always tried to achieve since the founding of the event by our president nearly 30 years ago.

‘This year we went one step further by including a champagne reception followed by a three-course meal, a cheese buffet later in the evening and, of course, a mix of entertainment.’

‘To date we have raised nearly £60,000 for local charities or local branches of National Charities.

‘Well done and thank you to all. Please keep an eye on our website https://www.newtonabbotcharityball.co.uk for information on our 2023 event.’
