‘NO MONKEYING around at the front there!’

Uncle Tako and his ventriloquist’s dummy were among those getting a covid test in Dawlish at the weekend.

The Dawlish-based entertainer, who also goes by the name Tony Liddington, stages an old-fashioned flea circus was part of the regular fun laid on for visitors at The Lawn over the summer by Dawlish Town Council.

The afternoon entertainment also included a traditional Punch and Judy show hosted by Professor Gayton, but the bad weather deterred some people from showing up.

Helping the team of marshals at the Devon County Council lateral flow mobile station was Dawlish Mayor, Cllr Val Mawhood.

It’s not known what she thought, but she can’t have seen too many orang utans queueing up for a test.
