Ditching the Teign School uniform for a day has raised enough cash to provide six months' essential shelter for 30 people in the world's disaster zones. All 1,400 students at the Kingsteignton campus gave at least £1 in exchange for dressing down for a day and between them handed over £1,500.That is enough to buy three ShelterBoxes, each of which contains a ten-person tent, blankets, cooking equipment and water purification system. The youngsters raised the money after head teacher Vyv Game suggested they might like to help in the wake of the Haiti earthquake disaster.Rio Bayley, 14, said: 'I think the ShelterBox scheme is a very good idea, they're full of really useful equipment.'Fellow student 13-year-old Philip Lentern said: 'When we heard about the Haiti disaster everyone thought it was pretty terrible, all those people homeless. It felt really good being able to help.'
