TWO people were hurt in a rush-hour shunt on the A38 near Chudleigh this morning (March 28).

Police and paramedics attended the incident at the bottom of Haldon Hill where three vehicles were involved – a black Hyundai from Newton Abbot, a red Peugeot 306 from Chudleigh and a red Citroen C4 from Paignton.

The accident happened on the outside lane of the Exeter-bound carriageway just before 8am.

Tailbacks extended back up the hill towards Chudleigh where diversions were set up.

The congestion took two-and-a-half hours to clear.

A police spokesman said all occupants were out of their vehicles when the emergency services arrived.

Two people were checked over by paramedics for chest and neck pains.

No one was admitted to hospital.

Two ambulances and a Rapid Response vehicle attended the incident.

A police spokesman said one of the motorists involved would be reported for allegedly driving without care.
