Competitors from as far afield as Bridgwater are lining up to take part in the third Dawlish Royal British Legion and Carlsberg UK three-legged race. The wacky event is scheduled for 3pm on Monday, May 29, and organiser Christopher Moyse said interest was increasing rapidly and that he predicted a record field. 'I think that we'll have more than 25 teams taking part,' he said. 'Our sponsors have come up with some excellent prizes and it should be a great race.' Once the running couples have tied the knot, so to speak, they will make their way round town visiting six pubs en route. Many will be in fancy dress and at each hostelry a half-pint will be have to be downed and a special item collected with which to prove their visit. Entry costs £2 per couple and prizes include up to £50 cash and cases of lager. Funds raised will help boost the legion's coffers. more information and entry forms can be obtained from the club in Park Road.
