AS the temperature fell so did the scores in the Newton Abbot and District Skittles League last week, writes John Balment.

One who did overcome it though was Tony Robson-Close who rattled up 74 (18, 9, 8, 17, 15, 7) for Sports in their 393-360 Division Four local derby success over Moby's Mob, at Kingsteignton's Oakford Club.

For Moby's Mob, Sally Meadon came up with 55.

In the Premier Division, anchor Keith Harris put Telecoms in the driving seat to pick up the two points in their relegation battle with Harvesters, on Forde Hall two.

Harris fired 70 (8, 6, 17, 8, 15, 16) as his side won 436-385, Dave French scoring 56 for Harvesters.

At the other end of the table, leaders Cricketers found Force 8 too good on Kingsteignton Royal British Legion one, and are now joined by Bottlewashers who defeated Gulls on Forde Hall one, Matt Blee coming up with 68.

While Forde Alls remain undefeated in Division Six, Odds and Ends are still searching for their first win of the season.

Their latest reverse came at Teignbridge 76 Club where they were beaten 310-290 by Strollers – not a spare to be seen all night.

Lindsey Bedford and Alban Williams had 44 for Strollers and Carol Guppy 43 for Odds and Ends.
