RUSH-HOUR traffic was brought to a halt after a three-vehicle crash on the A38 outside Ashburton.

Queues quickly lengthened as police and paramedics attended the scene between the Bickington and Heathfield turn-offs.

The shunt incident happened just before 8am on Wednesday.

An ambulance spokesman said the motorists involved were checked over by paramedics. None needed hospital treatment.

The road was clear by 9am.
