ASHBURTON residents may have to wait another three years before the tatty temporary roundabout and access to Dolbeare Business Park is tidied up.

And it looks as though people waiting at a nearby bus stop will continue to have to stand in the rain for some time yet.

The shelter opposite the entrance to East End Terrace was removed in August 2010 so it could be re-sited pending completion of road works to the business park, originally called Linhay 21. But then developer Blight and Scoble went bust and everything was put on hold.

Devon and Cornwall Police's serious crime investigation unit has moved on to the site, sharing a building with Ashburton police.

Now Poppy Properties Ltd, a sister company of Blight and Scoble, is asking to retain the temporary access road for another three years while it comes up with a better alternative.

In a report to Dartmoor National Park Authority, it says creating a proper mini roundabout at the Eastern Road entrance would cost £700,000 and is therefore a no-go.
