A ticking Blackberry sparked a bomb alert at Newton Abbot railway station on Monday.
Passengers on the 9.06am London to Plymouth service alerted the guard, afraid that a fellow passenger was a suicide bomber.
Around seven uniformed officers raced to the station after rail staff raised the alarm at 11.44am .
A 23-year-old Kuwaiti passenger was searched and was found to be carrying nothing more dangerous than a Blackberry phone.
A Devon and Cornwall police spokesman said: 'There was a ticking sound coming from one of the passengers which turned out to be the snooze function on the Blackberry phone.'
