A group of two and three-year-olds in Kingsteignton is hoping their sponsored walk from the United Reformed Church, round Oakford Lawn and back, will net them more than £100.

The youngsters attend the booming Teign-Y-Tots mother and toddler group, which meets at the church and needs new equipment.

Co-organiser Mandy Hall said: 'So far we've raised £89.50, but the money is still coming in.

'Thirteen children did the walk and for two and three-year-olds it was quite a long way. Most made it, but a few needed a bit of help.'

The number of children attending the group is growing fast. We have a new shed, but little yet to store in it.

'We want to have a sand pit and to grow our own vegetables and strawberries for snack breaks,' said Mrs Hall.

'The children also need new soft play equipment.'
