AS CARNIVALS go Moretonhampstead’s has quite a pedigree.
Since the early 1920s, and always on the fourth Thursday in August, Moretonians have been celebrating their carnival and this year was no exception for good reason.
Celebrating an impressive 100th anniversary organisers were hoping to make it an event to remember and they pulled out all the stops to create a spectacular grand procession which featured everything from dancing bananas, a Formula 1 pit crew and even Father Christmas.
Revellers took to the streets last Thursday evening in a noisy, colourful and, above all, fun procession though the moorland town.
Organisers have issued a big thank you to everyone, from participants, volunteers and the general public, who all came together to make the one hundredth carnival unforgettable.
