A DISABLED Teignmouth man has swum the equivalent of 142 miles to raise money for a local teenager being treated in America for a rare form of cancer.

Tony Wilkes may only have one leg, but it did not stop him ploughing through the water at the Cliffden Hotel pool on a regular basis over the space of a year.

His original target was 50 miles, but he enjoyed it so much he carried on swimming up and down to raise even more cash through sponsorship.
