Conservative Mel Stride has landed a clear win over his main rival in the Central Devon seat. His share of the 53,959 votes was 27,732, well ahead of Liberal Democrat Phil Hutty's 18,507.
Addressing those gathered at the count in Okehampton at just after 4am he said: 'It's my aim to stand up for everybody in Central Devon irrespective of their party or beliefs and I will fight for them in Westminster.'
Labour's Moira Macdonald took 3,715 votes, UKIP's Bob Edwards 2,870 and the Green's Colin Matthews 1,044.
There were 86 spoilt papers.
